‘da Creek storm through the first round

It’s playoff time here in church league softball land with the opening round concluding tonight.  CCBC came out a little rusty and then opened the flood gates to win again by the run rule.  After a few runs in each of the first three innings, the bats came alive in the 4th finishing off the noble opponent.  Keith, our ace, took to the mound and walked the first two batters (more walks than he’s had all year).  Then he settled down and retired the side without scoring a run.  From there on, CCBC rolled even without three of their starters.  Everyone’s fantasy sleeper Braylon Dole continued his hot hitting streak off the bench with another rip up the middle driving in yet another run.  Next up, is the semi-finals and the finals beginning at 7:30 next Thursday.

Game ball goes to Dave for playing a great shortstop.  I don’t think any balls made it through that side of the infield and even turned a double play.  However, props go to Scott D,  Purvis, and Braylon for stepping up and filling in the gaps left open by the missing starters.  Props also to Josiah for moving to a new position to play RC and make at least 3 outs and a couple of other good plays.  However, props do not go to Greg; he bats before me and in the last inning, Greg knocked in the final run to reach the run rule.  I wanted to go 4-4, but because of Greg’s RBI, I didn’t get to bat again.  Thanks Greg!  HA!
